Indianapolis – This week I was going to write about the great show Ringers Gloves had at the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) in Denver, along with all the weekend’s racing information. Then, I got some horrible and saddening news on Monday. A friend of mine and the drifting and drag racing communities passed away.
For those of you who didn’t know the name or the man Shaun Carlson, you were definitely missing out. Shaun was such a unique and cool individual, as well as a talented racer, fabricator, team and business owner that always stood out. Shaun’s “trademarked,” usually blonde, Mohawk, piercings and shorts with long socks always made him easy to find in a crowd; he was definitely So-Cal style all the way!
Shaun, only 35, had been diagnosed with Brugada syndrome (also known as Sudden Unexpected Death Syndrome), a genetic disease. Earlier in the year Shaun had been hospitalized for issues related to his disease.
Services for Shaun will be held Calvary Chapel Chino Valley on Monday, located at 12205 N. Pipeline Avenue, Chino, CA. 91710, October 12 starting at 1 p.m. A memorial fund has been set up in his honor and donations can be sent to: The Shaun Carlson Memorial Fund, 8491 Vicara Drive, Alta Loma, CA, 91710. Directions and more information can be found at Shaun’s business website at www.nuformz.com.
Ringers Gloves would like to extend our deepest thoughts, prayers and condolences to Shaun’s family, friends, employees and fans. Shaun will definitely be missed, but his spirit and memory will definitely not be forgotten. Godspeed Shaun…
